Prof. Murilo Matias – DDS, MSc, Ph.D

Education and Professional Activities

Dr. Matias is an Orthodontist (Certificate, MSc and Ph.D in Orthodontics by Bauru Dental School, University of São Paulo, Brazil), and has a Mini-Residency in Advanced Orthodontics from University of Michigan/School of Dentistry/USA. He is a full-time professor at Professional Master’s Program and Graduate Education (Orthodontic Department) at Guarulhos University (SP, Brazil).

Dr. Matias is a reviewer of Scientific Journals in the area of Orthodontics, including the Brazilian Dental Science (BDS-UNESP) and Revista Uningá.  Guest professor of the Orthodontics courses at the Peres Institute, Goiânia, GO; APCD, São José dos Campos, SP; FACOPH, Sorocaba, SP and IGEO, Caxias do Sul, RS.

Research Interests

His main field of research is the diagnosis and orthodontic and orthopedic treatment of malocclusions, with emphasis on diagnosis by Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Other areas of research include: orthodontic treatment with self-ligating brackets system, esthetics orthodontic materials (brackets and archwires) and digital orthodontic planning and treatment (orthodontic aligners).
