Graduate students and faculty participated in the live stream of the 2nd annual Forsyth Symposium, affiliated with Harvard University

 

Our graduate students and faculty attended the live stream of the 2nd Annual Forsyth Symposium, organized by the Forsyth Institute - a Harvard School of Dental Medicine affiliate. The symposium featured lectures by leading researchers in the field of immunology, who presented their latest findings on how microorganisms alter immune responses. UNG students and researchers will receive a certificate of attendance from the Forsyth Institute. This is a result of the collaboration between the UNG Postgraduate Dental Program and the Forsyth Institute, that have been working jointly since 2001.

Students from dental graduate program were awarded by the Academy of Osseointegration meeting

Four students from the Dental Graduate Program, Area of ​​Implantology, presented their studies at the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) meeting held in Washington DC. Two studies were awarded by the AO Scientific Committee: Livia Lamunier and Givelton Coimbra da Luz Filho, mentored by Prof. Jamil A. Shibli, were the recipients of the Osseointegration Foundation Student Travel Grant. In addition to the honorable mention, each student received a prize of $ 1,000.00. This award shows how important and impacting are the studies condected in Brazil, highlighting the work done by the Dental Graduate Program.

Dr. Jamil A. Shibli launched book about laser uses in dentistry

Dr. Jamil A. Shibli along with Dr. Aldo Brugnera Junior, Dr. Fática Zanin, and Dr. Samir Namour launched the book entitled “Laser in Dentistry: from Clinician to Clinician” by VM Cultural during the IN 2019 edition, Latin American Osseointegration meeting. Faculty members of the Dental Graduate Program also contributed by writing specific chapters.

 

The book clearly and objectively addresses the desire of the dental surgeon and specialist to know, apply and use high and low-level laser in the routine of oral health care. The thematic presents clinical cases and how laser can be useful in performing and improving procedures in the areas of periodontics, implant dentistry, endodontics, dentistry, pediatrics, stomatology, among other specialties. Photobiomodulation with low-level laser, as well as the application of high-level laser for detoxification, incision and coagulation of surgical wounds have been approached.
