Synthesis: Knowledge about land use in Geoenvironmental Analysis is of fundamental importance for understanding the dynamics of an ever-evolving landscape. The different types of use indicate the forms of pressure on natural resources and activities that significantly change the environmental quality of the biomes and of biotopes, besides explaining the conflicts and social and economic contradictions. This course is based on the Technical Land Use Manual (technical manuals in Geosciences – number 7. IBGE, 2006). The basic principles guiding the Survey coverage and land use, the nomenclature, accompanied by the definitions of employees based on relevant literature, and the Classification system designed to categorize uses and the coverage of the Earth.
