Diagnosis of transformations related to anthropogenic influence. Environmental risk assessment. Discussion of models and solutions. Case studies.

Elective Courses

Geo-environmental studies for non-specialists
Synthesis: Environment. Types, definitions and concepts. The origin and history of the planet Earth. The geological time. Internal dynamics of the Earth. Minerals and rocks. The rock cycle. Plate Tectonics and Structural Geology notions. Paleontology. Concepts and applications. Geomorphology. Concepts. Cartography scales and profiles. Environment SIG and Remote Sensing. Concepts and applications. The man and the environment. Ecology of Brazil. Notions of environmental legislation. Practical lessons from field and in the laboratory.

Engineering geology in the prevention and correction of superficial dynamic processes. Letters of Engineering Geology: susceptibility, risk and geotechnical letters. Engineering Geology and Environmental management instruments. Engineering geology and Technogene.

Applied Geomorphology
Synthesis: The Earth's relief has strong expression in the environment as a resource to support life, characterized by an inherent natural potential of ecosystems. All forms of life and human society are established on the Earth's surface, either directly on the Earth's crust in water bodies that overlaps. Nature reveals interrelationships with all other elements of the environment (rocks, atmosphere, water, soil, biomes, and societies), being generally relief, the element that most stands out in the landscape.

Indicators of Water Quality
Synthesis: Physical, Chemical, Microbiological and hydrobiological of water. Major water polluters phenomena. The main indicators of water quality and its calculations. Brazilian legislation on water quality. Application of water quality indicators in soil use and occupation.

Land use mapping for Geoenvironmental Analysis
Synthesis: Knowledge about land use in Geoenvironmental Analysis is of fundamental importance for understanding the dynamics of an ever-evolving landscape. The different types of use indicate the forms of pressure on natural resources and activities that significantly change the environmental quality of the biomes and of biotopes, besides explaining the conflicts and social and economic contradictions. This course is based on the Technical Land Use Manual (technical manuals in Geosciences – number 7. IBGE, 2006). The basic principles guiding the Survey coverage and land use, the nomenclature, accompanied by the definitions of employees based on relevant literature, and the Classification system designed to categorize uses and the coverage of the Earth.

Special Topics
Synthesis: The discipline gives the students the opportunity to meet and discuss topics not covered specifically by the program, but which by its multidisciplinarity, requires knowledge.

Anthropogenic Environmental Transformations
Synthesis: Geo-environmental Transformations. Sources of energy transformations. Geological agents. Civilizing process and geo-environmental changes: technology and transformation. Agricultural and urban revolution. Man: geological agent. Land use and human induced processes or technogenic. Brazilian case studies: impacts and economic cycles in Brazil. Geo-environmental impacts of deforestation. Cycles of mining in Brazil and its geo-environmental impacts. Colonization of the Western Paulista and geo-environmental impacts. Geo-environmental impacts of major works: highways and hydroelectric reservoirs. Geoenvironmental impacts of cities.

Introduction to Geoprocessing
Synthesis: Feature of SIG. Spatial Data. Data sources. Digital bases on the internet. Data structures: vector and matrix models. Topology. Cartography for geographic information systems. Acquisition and data manipulation. Query and spatial analysis. Open software in SIG. Introduction to remote sensing. Platforms and sensors. Acquisition of images. Visual analysis of images. Digital processing of images. Practical activities.

Fundamental right to balanced environment. National Environmental System. National Council of the Environment. International Treaties. Constitutional Principles. Environmental Education. Prevention, compensation, polluter-payer. Forest Code. Conservation and protection areas. EIA-RIMA. Casuistry: Water Conservancy, water resources, air, waste, noise, flora and fauna, controlled products, work environment, cultural, historical environment. Evolution of the urban phenomenon. Sources of Urbanistic Direct. Principles of urban law. Brazilian urban system. Plan and planning. Urbanization and urbanification. Art. 182 of the Federal Constitution and Statute of the City – law nº 10,257/2001. Master Plan. Concessions, authorizations and licenses.
