Prof. Alessandra Cassoni – DDS, MSc, PhD

Education and Professional Activities
Dr. Cassoni received her DDS degree in 1993 from University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). She also received her Masters (1998) and PhD degree (2003) in Dentistry from University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). She is Part-time Research Fellow and Assistant Professor of the Post-graduate Program in Dentistry at Guarulhos University (Brazil).

She is active member of numerous dental committees and societies; the Brazilian Group of Operative Dentistry Professors (since 1997); Brazilian Division of International Association for Dental Research-IADR (since 1994) and IADR (since 2010). Reviewer for scientific journals (International Dental Journal, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery and Lasers in Medical Science).

Research Interests
Her main research field is the high power laser and dental tissue interaction as well as biomaterials. Other areas of research include: dental bleaching, dental materials, biomechanical behavior of restorative materials (microtensile, microshear tests) including dental implants research.

Other highlights
Dr. Cassoni has lectured on the topics of laser in restorative dentistry at several universities, national and international dental meetings, and study groups, and has authored over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals, having an ISI h-index of 12 and a Scopus h-index of 16.
