Prof. Bruno Bueno-Silva – DDS, MSc, PhD.

Education and Professional Activities
Dr. Bueno-Silva received his DDS degree in 2005 from the Piracicaba School of Dentistry, Campinas State University, Brazil. He also received his Masters (2008) and PhD degrees (2012) in Dentistry, Pharmacology, Anesthesiology and Therapeutic area from the Piracicaba School of Dentistry, Campinas State University, Brazil. He also spent a PhD period (1 year) at Center of Oral Biology, University of Rochester at Rochester, NY, USA. Dr. Bueno-Silva has a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Microbiology from University of Sao Paulo (USP). He is Full-time researcher and Instructor Professor in Dentistry at Guarulhos University (Brazil) and Volunteer Researcher at Piracicaba Dental School – Unicamp.

He is member of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and the IADR Microbiologt Research Group, Member of IADR Brazilian division (SBPqO), and ad-hoc reviewer of several international Journals such as Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Natural Products Research, BMC Oral health, etc.

Research Interests
His main research field is Natural Products biological effects with great emphasis on antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of Brazilian propolis and its bioactive compounds. Other areas of research include: S. mutans biofilm, periodontal biofilm, cell culture, inflammation.

Other highlights
He has received some important awards, including honors in Oral Session of SBPqO in 2016; 2015; 2013; 2011; 2009; 2007 and 2006. In addition, his Ph.D. thesis were considered the best one of Piracicaba Dental School – Unicamp over the period 2012-2013.
