Education and Professional Activities
Dr. Faveri is a periodontist (Certificate and Masters degrees), received his doctorate degree (PhD) in Microbiology from University of São Paulo and has a Post-doctoral Fellowship from Forsyth Institute (Cambridge/USA). He is actively involved in teaching and research at the Guarulhos University, in Sao Paulo, where she serves as an Associate Professor.
He is member of the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) and of the IADR Periodontal Research Group, member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Dental Hygiene Research and reviewer of Journal of Dental Research, PlosOne, Brazilian Oral Research, Clinical Oral Implants Research, Journal of Periodontology, Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Journal of Periodontal Research.
Research Interests
His main research field is the diagnostic and treatment of different periodontal and peri-implantar infections, with great emphasis on Randomized Clinical Trials. Other areas of research include: different mucogingival techniques including gingivoplasty and gingival grafts, in vitro and ex vivo biofilm models and oral ecology, including the search for novel periodontal pathogens, oral implantology, regenerative treatment around tooth and implants and growth factors.
Other highlights
He has received several Research Grants from the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the CNPq have granted her a scholarship of productivity in research since 2010, recognizing hir research activities. In 2014, one of his publications (Perez-Chaparro et al. 2014) was selected for the F1000Prime, and it was recommended as being of special significance in the periodontal field by Dr. Robert Palmer, a renowned researcher at NIDCR (MD, USA). In addition, Dr. Faveri has an ISI h-index of 19 and a Scopus h-index of 20.
